Warranty & Care

Crafted to last. Designed to be lived with.

Every DecorMama piece is made to be used, loved and lived with — every day. We stand behind every piece we sell with a clear, honest warranty, and we will always tell you plainly what is covered, what is not, and how to reach us if something goes wrong.

Our 24-month warranty

All DecorMama furniture carries a 24-month warranty from the date of delivery. This warranty covers manufacturing defects — faults in how a piece was made, not how it has been used.

What is covered

  • Manufacturing defects in the frame and structure of a piece (for example, a joint, weld or frame component that fails under normal use)
  • Defects in workmanship, including faulty stitching or seams that come undone under normal use
  • Faulty mechanisms and fittings supplied with the piece (for example, hinges, runners, recliner or height-adjustment mechanisms) that fail under normal use

If a covered defect appears within 24 months of delivery, we will, at our discretion, repair the piece, replace the faulty part, or replace the piece — whichever restores it to the standard it should have met on the day it arrived.

What is not covered

  • Damage from misuse, accidents or neglect — including spills left to soak in, burns, cuts, or a piece being used for something it was not made for
  • Water or sun damage to indoor furniture used outdoors, or to outdoor furniture left uncovered and exposed to the weather (see the outdoor care notes below)
  • Normal fabric and material wear — softening of cushions, gentle fading, pilling, or leather and fabric wearing in with use
  • Accidental damage after delivery, damage during a move or storage by a third party, or damage caused by pets, cleaning chemicals or steam cleaning
  • Pieces that have been modified or repaired by someone else without our written agreement
  • Natural characteristics of real materials — wood grain, knots and colour variation, veining in marble and stone, and creases in genuine leather. These are part of the material, not defects.

This warranty sits alongside, and does not replace, your rights under the Consumer Protection Act. If something about your piece concerns you — even if you are not sure it is a warranty matter — talk to us first. We would rather look at it than leave you guessing.

How to claim

Claiming is simple, and WhatsApp is fastest:

  1. Message us on WhatsApp: 063 120 3728 (or email sales@decormama.co.za if you prefer).
  2. Send your order number, a short description of the problem, and clear photos — one of the whole piece, and close-ups of the issue. A short video helps for mechanisms or movement.
  3. We will confirm we have received your claim, assess the photos, and come back to you with the next step — a repair, a replacement part, or a collection for workshop assessment where that is needed.

Please do not send a piece back or book your own repair before speaking to us: returns and workshop bookings are arranged with us first, so we can track your piece properly.

Care guides

A little routine care is all most pieces need. When in doubt, gentle is always right — and never use harsh or abrasive cleaners on any DecorMama piece.

Solid wood & pine

  • Dust with a soft, dry or slightly damp cloth, wiping in the direction of the grain.
  • Wipe up spills straight away; use coasters and placemats under hot, wet or sharp items.
  • Keep out of prolonged direct sunlight and away from heaters, which can dry and crack timber.
  • For deeper cleans, use a cleaner made for wood — no silicone sprays, bleach or scouring pads.

Marble & sintered stone

  • Blot spills immediately — wine, coffee, citrus and oils can stain or etch natural marble. Sintered stone is hardier, but prompt wiping is still best practice.
  • Clean with warm water and a small amount of pH-neutral cleaner on a soft cloth.
  • Always use coasters, trivets and boards; never cut directly on the surface or place scalding cookware on it.
  • Do not use vinegar, lemon, bleach or abrasive cleaners on marble.

Glass

  • Clean with a soft microfibre cloth and a standard glass cleaner, or warm water with a drop of dishwashing liquid.
  • Lift objects rather than dragging them across the surface, and use felt pads under décor items.
  • Avoid sudden temperature shocks (very hot items on cold glass).

Upholstery & fabric

  • Vacuum weekly on a low setting with an upholstery attachment to lift dust before it settles into the weave.
  • Blot — never rub — spills with a clean, dry cloth. For marks, use a fabric-appropriate cleaner, tested on a hidden area first.
  • Rotate and fluff cushions regularly so wear and sunlight land evenly.
  • Keep upholstered pieces out of harsh, direct sun where you can, to slow fading. Professional cleaning is recommended for set-in stains; do not steam-clean unless the fabric label allows it.

Outdoor & patio

  • Our outdoor pieces are made for covered patios and protected outdoor areas. Even weather-resistant furniture lasts far longer under cover.
  • Cover outdoor furniture when it is not in use, and bring cushions indoors during heavy rain. Uncovered, weather-exposed pieces age faster — and water damage to uncovered pieces is not covered by the warranty.
  • Wipe frames down after coastal or dusty exposure, and let cushions dry fully before storing them to prevent mildew.
  • Do not leave indoor furniture outdoors, even “just for the weekend”.

Delivery & lead times

  • In stock: delivery in 3–10 business days, depending on your area and delivery scheduling.
  • Made to order: most made-to-order pieces take 2–4 weeks to make, finish and deliver. Your order confirmation will confirm which applies to your piece, and we will keep you posted if anything changes.
  • If your order mixes in-stock and made-to-order pieces, we will confirm the combined timing with you before dispatch.
